Boat tour from Maligne to Spirit Island
Spirit Island is one of the most photographed places in the Canadian Rockies, and it’s easy to see why! Backed by Jasper National Park’s towering mountains and surrounded by sparkling blue-green water, this special island is 14 km from the end of Maligne Lake and is only reachable by boat. You can spend the day paddling to it, but a more relaxing way to get there is on a boat tour! If you opt for a tour, you will hear fascinating stories about Maligne Lake, one of the biggest and most beautiful lakes in the Canadian Rockies. You’ll see plenty of stunning alpine scenery and even some glaciers nestled among the mountain peaks. Once you arrive at Spirit Island, you will have some time to view the island from a nearby nature trail.

Surf in Tofino, BC
Tofino is a little-known secret and is one of North America’s best surf spots on the west coast! Tofino is a small town on the western shores of Vancouver Island with plenty of gorgeous, secluded beaches. You’ll find stretches of soft sand surrounded by tall pine trees that are just 15 minutes from a National Park and temperate rain forests. Cox Bay Beach is considered one of the best beaches when it comes to surfing in Tofino. You can rent a wetsuit (the water is chilly, so you’ll want one) and surfboard from one of the many surf rental shops in town, and even sign up for a lesson, but it’s also exciting to just relax on the sand and watch the locals catch the waves!

Whale Watching at the Bay of Fundy

Drive the Cabot Trail
The Cabot Trail is a circular scenic drive in the northeast of Cape Breton in Nova Scotia that is around 300 kilometers long. The road can be easily driven in one day, even with stopping to take in all the scenic views. These views range from beautiful beaches and coastal rocks to lush forests and views across bays and out to sea. There are multiple places to pull over to admire the views as you drive the trail.
You can easily turn this journey into a multi-day adventure since there are many attractions on the route or just off it. Hikes through the woods, to lovely waterfalls, and out to peninsulas are abundant. There are many local shops along the route offering local products perfect for getting gifts and mementos. The trail is a great drive during the warmer seasons but is also beautiful in the fall when the leaves are changing colour.
